Large lignite clast within slumped sands of the “Cruse” Formation

Oil saturated sand on the western side of Quinam Beach, south flank (south dipping) of the Southern Anticline. Barker & Roberts 1965 in their Figure 2 identified free oil and gas on the wave cut platform and a rich impregnated oil sand in the cliff. The sand has a very strong oil smell, the quartz grains have a light stain indicating a light oil and leaves no stain on the hands.
